JACK NORMAN BOLTON, 85, of Biardstown, died at 5:30 PM, Saturday, June 23, 2012 at his home.  Funeral services are set for 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Covenant Christian Church with Rev. Diana Russell and Dr. Stephen Russell officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.  Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Jack was born November 15, 1926 in Biardstown to Dennis and Ethel Frye Bolton.  He was a devoted and loving son to his parents.  He married Marcheta Young on Christmas Eve of 1949 and built their life together in the Biardstown community for 48 years.  She passed away February 17, 1997.  Mr. Bolton joined the Army during World War II and served his country in the occupational forces in Germany.  While in the Army, he excelled as a rifle and carbine sharpshooter.  His military and working career consisted of being a rifleman, truck driver, farmer, and boilermaker.  He was a self taught independent thinker and was a caring and compassionate man to all people.  He retired from Babcock & Wilcox in 1983 after 30 years of service.  He was devoted to his church and church family at Covenant Christian Church.

Mr. Bolton was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  His sons remember him as a hard working man sacrificing for his family. 

He is survived by two sons, Jack Bolton, Jr. and wife, Ellen of Seattle, Washington and John Bolton and wife, Kathy of Biardstown; grandson, Brad Bolton and wife, Merianne of Biardstown; great-grandsons, Garrett, Christian, Austin and Evan Bolton of Biardstown; granddaughter, Keri Bolton Davis and husband, Ed of Anna, Texas; great-granddaughters, Ashlyn and Katelyn Davis of Anna; and three sisters-in-law, Anna Beth Allen, Melissa Phillips, both of Deport, and Yvonne Bowers of Paris.

Pallbearers will be Garrett Bolton, Christian Bolton, Sammy Bolton, Charles Bolton, Robert Jenkins, and Joe Matthews.  Honorary pallbearers are Rodger Allen and Doug Phillips.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Society or the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
