Mary Ruth Fuqua, 92, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Colonial Lodge Retirement Center. Funeral services have been scheduled for Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 2:30 P.M. at Roxton First Baptist Church with James Jackson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Restland Cemtery in Roxton. She was the youngest daughter of W.A. and Stella Burge, born in Hugo, Oklahoma in 1917. She grew up in Paris and attended Paris schools and Paris Business College. She married Arthur Fuqua of Roxton in 1940 in Hugo and they made their home in Roxton. Arthur preceded her in death in 1995. She attended First Baptist Church in Roxton where she taught both adult and children’s Sunday school classes for many years. Mary Ruth retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She never had any children of her own but doted on her ten nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Fuqua; parents, W.A. and Stella Burge; brothers, Alfonzo, Paul and her sister, Catherine.
